love yourself

how does a person love themselves?
it really baffles me when everytime i heard people say
"Love yourself first before loving other."
i mean... whhat...?
Loving yourself.
what does it mean really? does it mean that you have to be comfortable with who you are?
does it mean that you have to know your weaknesses and strenght?
does it mean that you apply changes to yourself until you are satisfied with yourself?
or all of the above?
